Officials launch initiative in Bluffton's Alljoy community, targeting failing septic tanks near the May River (wtoc.com) — Bluffton’s Alljoy neighborhood is getting a major septic-to-sewer upgrade that will connect about 100 homes to a new low-pressure wastewater system, protecting groundwater and the May River. Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority and local officials just broke ground on phase one, with future phases depending on additional funding. This project targets failing septic tanks in environmentally sensitive areas.
   

2. Beaufort Memorial invests in another workforce housing project. Here's where (islandpacket.com) — Beaufort Memorial is backing new workforce apartments in Beaufort while also developing LiveWell Terrace and a Bluffton community hospital on Buckwalter Parkway, aimed largely at local healthcare workers. Bluffton man charged with felony drug offenses in Beaufort County (wjcl.com) — A Bluffton man has been booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center on multiple felony drug charges, including alleged distribution-related offenses involving methamphetamine and crack cocaine. Authorities have released his name and age but are withholding details about the raid, what was seized, and whether others were involved. More information is expected as investigators share updates.
   

4. Kitten gets new lease on life after being thrown off overpass (wspa.com) — A badly injured kitten named Maverick is recovering thanks to a Bluffton veterinary clinic and a local man who refused to give up on him. After being thrown from a vehicle and hit on William Hilton Parkway, Maverick needed surgery, a tail amputation, and will likely live in diapers. His new owner has already spent thousands to give him a second chance.
