Old Town Bluffton prepares for annual Mayfest celebration (blufftonsun.com) — Bluffton’s beloved Mayfest returns to Old Town on Saturday, May 9, with free admission, over 130 vendors, and full-day entertainment along Calhoun Street and nearby parks. Residents can enjoy live music, contests, and local food while supporting Rotary-funded scholarships and community programs. Organizers urge festivalgoers to come prepared for a long outdoor day and to bring leashed dogs.
   

2. Alexander Van Rensselaer Halsey (tworivertimes.com) — Longtime finance executive and world traveler Alexander “Sandy” Halsey, 95, passed away March 5 in Bluffton after moving to Palmetto Bluff in 2021. His family recalls his Navy service, banking innovations, love of fishing and travel, and asks that memorial donations support CPC Integrated Health instead of flowers.
   

3. Bluffton exhibition highlights legacy of two illustrators (blufftonsun.com) — An illustration-focused exhibition is opening this Thursday, April 23, at Four Corners Fine Art & Framing in Bluffton, celebrating the legacies of illustrators Joe Bowler and Doug Corkern. Running through May 21, the show explores how illustration shapes visual storytelling, with Corkern’s Lowcountry scenes offering a strong regional connection. The gallery invites the public to visit during regular hours.
   

4. Alleged DUI driver in Bluffton was ‘waving gun' out of window, witness says (islandpacket.com) — Bluffton-area deputies recently arrested a 20-year-old Bluffton resident after a caller reported a swerving vehicle and a gun being waved from a window on U.S. 278 near Hilton Head. Deputies say they recovered a pistol, noted signs of impairment, and recorded a high breathalyzer result after transporting the driver to Bluffton Police Department.
