• KCSD Honors Future Teachers at Annual Signing Day (kool1027.com) — Camden High School seniors, alongside classmates from Lugoff-Elgin and North Central, were honored May 7 for committing to become future teachers, many aiming to return to Kershaw County classrooms. The district’s Teacher Forum hosted the signing day, celebrating students heading to colleges like USC, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, and Winthrop while families and educators cheered them on. 
• Multiple agencies searching for missing fisherman on Wateree River (wltx.com) — Emergency crews from Camden, Lugoff, and Kershaw County are searching the Wateree River near Tail Race Road after a fisherman reportedly went into the water, and the Tail Race Boat Ramp is closed to all boat launches. Residents who normally use Lugoff Landing or fish below the Wateree Hydro Station should avoid the area while the search continues.
• Coroner identifies 22-year-old driver killed in early morning crash (wach.com) — A 22-year-old Bishopville woman died in a single-vehicle pickup crash early Tuesday morning on Bishopville Highway just east of Camden, according to the Kershaw County coroner. Deputies say her truck overturned several times after she apparently lost control, and she was ejected and died at the scene. State troopers are still investigating what caused the wreck.
