Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- Port of Charleston is the proposed site of a new cold storage warehouse. The facility would be built along Patriot Boulevard in North Charleston, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The facility would be dedicated to regional cold storage and distribution of food products, according to Flexspace's application. A lot of cold-storage projects have been proposed for the port this year. (Charleston Post Courier)
- The Charleston Police Department is hosting a baseball clinic this Saturday. The clinic is suitable forall agess. Former professional, college, and high school baseball players will lead the clinic along with department officers. Participants will learn how to hit, throw, and field. The free event will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Martin Park Field. (WCBD News 2)
- A proposed Charleston sea wall project still awaits U.S. Senate approval. The wall will rise eight feet above flooding level stretching more than eight miles around the peninsula. The $1.1 billion project price tag is well worth it, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The U.S. House has already approved the sea wall. (Charleston Post Courier)
