Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- Individuals in the Charleston area might be eligible for assistance through FEMA if Hurricane Ian damaged their homes and property. Students, homeowners, and renters can apply for the federal grant for a one- or two-month period. Renters may qualify for the Other Needs Assistance program for uninsured property losses and other expenses. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- South Carolina is sixth in the nation when it comes to stroke-related deaths. Stroke is also the state's leading cause of disability; therefore, Trident Medical Center will offer a support group for stroke survivors and caregivers in January 2023. The support group will help survivors and their families connect with other survivors and community resources. (WBTW)
- Hundreds of bikes were given away at the second annual Positive Vibes Ronjanae Smith Inc. and North Charleston Police Department partnered event. The community was invited to the event, which was created to help families struggling during the holidays. (Live 5 News WCSC)
