- A former Charleston County detention deputy has been charged with assault and battery. Aaron Turner Renaud, 38, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and battery after throwing a juvenile against the wall, railing, and floor of the elevator last November. The second charge stems from a prior incident in which Renaud was accused of pushing the victim, causing him to hit his head and lose consciousness. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- The Medical University of South Carolina's student-run free clinic, CARES, is preparing to expand its Pediatric Prevention Clinics by adding a mobile vaccination van to its list of outreach programs. With the help of a Mount Pleasant tennis club charity event, the I'On Club's Tennis Trifecta, CARES was able to raise more than $30,000 to fund its new Vax Van initiative. (Charleston Post Courier)
