Four Local Schools Raise over $25,000 for Kids Heart Challenge

Charleston S.C. – March 29, 2023 - The American Heart Association, a global force for longer, healthier lives, is proud to announce four local schools raised over $25,000 for the Kids Heart Challenge. Kids Heart Challenge focuses on whole body wellness, helping students improve their own health and better their character while raising life-saving donations for the American Heart Association to help kids facing heart-health issues.

Ashley Hall in Charleston raised over $38,000 for Kids Heart Challenge and was their best year ever. They were no. 1 in the tri-county area and no. 2 in South Carolina overall. Jennie Moore Elementary School in Mount Pleasant raised over $32,000 and was fifth overall in South Carolina for amount raised. Howe Hall AIMS in Goose Creek took the no. 6 spot in South Carolina and raised over $30,000. St. Andrew’s School of Math and Science raised over $29,000 and was no. 7 for amounts raised in the state.

Kids Heart Challenge helps prepare kids for success by supporting physical and emotional well-being, while offering new learning resources and physical activities to meet the needs of today’s youth and educators. In addition to improved physical health, the benefits of physical activity for children include better grades, school attendance and classroom behavior. Physical activity can also help kids feel better, improve mental health, build self-esteem, and decrease and prevent conditions such as anxiety and depression.

Kids Heart Challenge supports the mission of the American Heart Association, improves the health of students, their families and communities in a holistic approach to driving change, fund revolutionary breakthroughs and save lives.
