Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- A man has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon after he stole vapes from a Charleston gas station. The robbery occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, 2021, when Ashton Low went up to the check-out counter at the Circle K on Ashley River Road and ran off with a display case of BIDI stick vapes. Low's bond has been set at $100,000. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- Each Thursday, The New Covenant Church of God Community Impact Outreach will be offering free food to those in need. This week, food distribution will take place at the location from 9:30 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m., or until food runs out. Food can be picked up at Community Impact Outreach, located at 2429 Midland Park Road, Building #200, in North Charleston. (ABC NEWS 4)
- A teacher in Charleston County is a recipient of McGraw Hill's 2021 ALEKS All-Star Educator Award. Charleston County elementary school teacher Sharon Beeson won the national award for her use of technology in the classroom. The award honors K-12 teachers and higher educator instructors who use ALEKS, a course assistant that helps math and chemistry educators create constructive learning pathways for students.
