Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:

  1. Charleston County's Sustainability Department will be hosting two discussions about the Greenhouse Gas Inventory. The first meeting will be held in Robert Scott Small Room at 235 Auditorium at the College of Charleston on Sep. 1 at 7:00 p.m. The second meeting will be held online on Sep. 14 at noon. The events are free to attend and the same information will be given at both meetings. (Holy City Sinner)
  2. The car of a missing woman, Megan Rich, has been located. The Charleston Police Department is still searching for Rich. The department has arrested Brian Baker, 59, for providing false information to investigators regarding Rich's disappearance. He is the father of Rich's child. The department is asking anyone with information about Rich's whereabouts to contact them immediately. (ABC News 4)
  3. Charleston County will be spending $4.5 million to fix failing septic systems. The issue is reportedly leaking sewage into county yards and creeks. The money is being allocated from the county's share of the federal American Rescue Plan Act. Mount Pleasant Waterworks will have to match the funds. (Charleston Post Courier)
