🌱 Charleston Light Pollution Ordinance + Positive Citations For Pizza
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Charleston.

Hello all. It's me, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Charleston Daily — here to impart everything that's fit to print about what's happening locally. Here we go...
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny and pleasant. High: 88 Low: 74.
Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:
- The Charleston International Airport will be receiving part of $19 million in federal grants from the Federal Aviation Administration. The federal agency will be distributing the funds to 20 different airports throughout the state for improvement projects. Charleston International will be receiving $2.5 million of the $19 million. The airport plans to use the funds to improve taxiway lighting and its terminal building. (ABC NEWS 4)
- A Charleston councilman is pushing for a light pollution ordinance. Councilman Brady is asking the Charleston City Council to pass the ordinance to reduce the negative impact that outdoor lights are having on the environment. The councilman's proposal was facilitated by a resident named Tom Berta. Adopting the light pollution ordinance would reportedly decrease the city's energy costs while pashing in new street and sidewalk light fixtures. (WCBD News 2)
- Charleston County Sheriff's Office Deputies are passing out positive citations in the form of free pizza coupons. The free pizzas are being supplied by Papa John's through a department partnership. Young residents can receive positive citations by using crosswalks, picking up trash, and being a generally positive force within the community. (WCBD News 2)
