First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- The City of Charleston is considering a proposal that would increase employee wages. The proposal is being considered by the Ways and Means Committee of the Charleston City Council today (Aug. 16) during a meeting. A $15 an hour minimum wage would be established through the proposal along with a one-time bonus for employees. The bonus would be $1,250 for full-time employees and $625 for part-time city employees. (WCBD News 2)
- The U.S. Department of Transportation has given the Lowcountry Lowline project a $7 million grant. The project would create a 1.7-mile park out of an abandoned railroad track area. The project is reportedly complex since it touches on multiple areas such as mobility and stormwater management. (Charleston City Paper)
- The Charleston Fire Department is transitioning to a new records management system. The department has been training for the transition through a series of training sessions this month. The transition will occur next month and will reportedly improve department services by tracking trends. (WCBD News 2)
