
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott was recognized as the Local Official of the Year during the South Carolina Parks and Recreation Association’s annual conference in Charleston, S.C.
The Recreation Commission nominated the Sheriff for his work in Richland County and the special partnership that he shares with the Recreation Commission.
The sheriff’s department’s field training operations are housed out of the Crane Creek Community Center and the Region 3 headquarters is located at the Denny Terrace Community Center.

The Commission also works closely with the Sheriff’s department on community programs like internet and computer safety through the James E. Clyburn Technology Center and women’s self defense classes hosted at the county parks.Â
