Riverland Hills Offers 'Run for God' Program

Riverland Hills Baptist Church is offering a new recreation ministry for the community.  The church is launching a 12-week program called “Run for God” that combines a weekly Bible study with group training sessions to prepare participants to run a 5k (3.1 mile) road race. Individuals who complete the program will run the Sleigh Bell Trot 5k at Saluda Shoals Park on Tuesday, November 22.

The one-hour Bible study will be held at the church, located at 201 Lake Murray Blvd., on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. starting August 23.  The Bible study illustrates the parallels between endurance running and the endurance required by one’s faith. The program consists of two additional sessions (Thursday nights and Saturday mornings) where participants will train each week with the support of their group.  “Run for God” is targeted to beginners—absolutely no experience is required.  Adults and children 7th grade and older are invited to participate.  The $75 program fee includes a book, two race shirts and entry into a 5k road race.  The deadline to register is August 8.
