Analysis: More Out-of-State Students Paying Discounted Rates

House Representative says there's no payoff with discounts.

An analysis of data of out-of-state students has shown that more are paying at a discounted rate, rather than the higher out-of-state tuition cost, the Associated Press reported.

Over the last five years, 43-percent increase in out-of-state students receiving a discount has been reported. Rep. Jim Merrill of Charleston criticized the trend, saying there was no payoff for universities discounting out-of-state students.
