Coroner Identifies Body Found on Train Tracks

A Columbia man died after he was hit by a train on the railroad tracks near Riverbanks Zoo Wednesday night, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said.

David J. Fraccalvieri, 24, of 143 Stoneridge Drive was struck by the train around 9:15 p.m., Watts said. He died at the scene.

An autopsy showed that Fraccalvieri died from trauma, Watts said.

The Richland County Coroners office, the Richland County Sheriffs Department and CSX Police continue to investigate.
