CINETHON 72-Hour Film Festival Will be held at Tapp's over the Martin Luther King Day Weekend Jan. 16 - 19, 2015

Point of View film series at Tapp's Arts Center Presents CINETHON, Columbia's first 72-Hour Film Festival Jan. 16-19, 2015.

CINETHON, Columbia’s first 72 hour film festival, will be held over the course of the Martin Luther King Day Weekend (January 16th - 19th) at Tapp’s Arts Center. Cinethon will celebrate all the splendid pleasures and diverse riches of the movies. Brought to you by The Point of View Film Series at Tapp’s Arts Center, the festival will emphasize all the broad taste and inventive showmanship you’ve come to expect from P.O.V. over the course of its existence.

Here at P.O.V., we love movies and we know you do, too. Accordingly, the Tapp’s Arts Center will be transformed into a functioning 24-hour movie house starting Friday Jan. 16th at 6 PM -- think of Cinethon as “giant slumber party meets epic movie marathon.” The festival will run continuously through Mon. Jan. 19 ending at 9:00 PM. Showcasing both “Curated Selections” picked by our expert P.O.V. staff, as well as “Sponsored Selections” chosen by our generous sponsors, the mishmash of eclectic tastes and styles is meant to provoke conversation within the community and affirm the sanctuary so many of us find in the darkened theater.

In addition to our fantastic line up of films, Cinethon will also feature an assortment of live entertainment acts and events. Interspersed throughout the festival, these include surprise guests, movie trivia, live music, raffle drawings, and much more. The proceeds from Cinethon will go toward supplementing Point of View’s fiscal budget for 2015.

This film festival is part of a continuing collaboration between Point of View and Tapp’s Arts Center. P.O.V. meets in the Skyline Room of Tapp’s Arts Center on the main floor.

Seating will be provided but chairs, pillows and cushions are welcome.
