City Of Columbia Police Department: Burglary Suspect Caught Soon After Home Break-In

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers arrested a suspect shortly after an overnight home burglary in the Shandon community.

With the assistance of the CPD K-9 Team, 51-year-old Gregory B. Williams was arrested after running from the crime scene. A few minutes before capture, Williams was accused of breaking into a home at the 1000 block of Woodrow Street and stealing electronics, clothing, and tennis shoes.

Some of the victims were home at the time and confronted Williams while calling 9-1-1.

The suspect is accused of committing additional home burglaries and stealing several thousands of dollars worth of electronics, clothing, designer handbags and cash/debit cards at other locations within the past few weeks to include:

Earlier this week, we posted a surveillance picture of the suspect on social media in an effort to identify and locate him. The picture was taken during a home burglary from a victim’s security cameras. 

Williams is charged with multiple counts of Burglary – First Degree, Grand Larceny, Petit Larceny and Malicious Injury to Property.  At last check, he was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

Investigator’s with CPD’s Property Crimes Unit are determining whether Williams is connected to more home burglaries in South Columbia.
