Columbia High School SAT Scores Improve

The average score for Columbia High is still below the district's average score.

SAT scores at Columbia High School improved last year, but the school's scores are still well below the scores for Richland One, according to data released Tuesday. 

The average score for Columbia High School in 2011 was 1,236 — a 40-point improvement from 2010, according to data released by the State Department of Education.

Columbia High students improved the most in critical reading. Scores also went up in math, while writing scores remained the same.

Columbia High's average score is still 107 points behind the average score of 1,343 for the district — even with a decrease of 30 points in the district's average score. 

Columbia High and Richland One are both behind the state average of 1,436.

The number of students taking the test district-wide increased by 16 percent. At Columbia High, there was about a 10 percent increase in the number of students who took the test.
