Here are the top stories in Columbia today:

  1. In Tuesday night's election, no candidate received the required majority to win the electoral race outright. This means that Daniel Rickenmann (who received 44 percent of the vote) and Tameika Isaac Devine (who received 30 percent) will head to a runoff election for the position of Columbia's mayor. Four Richland County schools were on lockdown Wednesday after a shooting that occurred at 1:45 p.m. Kelly Mill Middle School, Center for Achievement, and Lake Carolina Upper and Lower campuses were placed under lockdown. Police report that there was no threat to the outside community and the situation was ongoing. (WIS10)
  3. Excited for the holiday season? Experience Columbia SC, Columbia Garden Club, and Garden Club of South Carolina announced Wednesday that the state Christmas tree will arrive Monday morning. (The State)
  4. In the third shooting incident this week in Columbia, a man died of a gunshot wound in his apartment. (The State)
  5. A teen was charged possession of hash oil Wednesday after distributing drug-infused candy at a Columbia middle school, sending two children to the hospital sick. (WLTX.com)
