- Columbia native, Zane Jones wins the Daytime Emmy award two months after graduating from the Los Angeles Film School. Jones, along with 6 other African-American producers, were honored with the 2021 Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Daytime Fiction Program" for their film The Girl in Apartment 15. Jones is hoping to add more awards to his trophy case. "I do want to be an EGOT," Jones said. "I do want to have the Emmy, Grammy and Tony. (WLTX.com)
- The Columbia Police Department, in conjunction with the South Carolina United States Attorney's Office, has sentenced a Columbia gang member to federal prison for a firearm charge. Kevin Shacqile Roney, "Valentine Roney," 26, of Columbia, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. (WACH.com)
- COVID-19 cases are on the decline according to Lexington Medical Center President and CEO Tod Augsburger. He addressed West Columbia City Council last week in which he said there were less than 50 patients at LMC with COVID. (westmetronews.net)
- At its meeting Thursday night, Columbia Housing offered updates on several new affordable housing developments. (WLTX.com)
