- According to Columbia Municipal Records, the suspect in the shooting at Columbiana Centre mall over the weekend has received a $25,000 surety bond. Jewayne Price was one of three people who were detained following the shooting on Saturday that left 14 wounded. Price will wear an ankle monitor and be under house arrest while still allowed to go to and from work, authorities say. He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, and a court appearance has been scheduled for Jun. 9. (Columbia Patch)
- Columbia Housing has broken ground on a new development at the former site of Gonzales Gardens. The move is set to make way for more affordable housing after the site has been dormant now for several years. Crews are paving the way to make a 285-unit development which will be located on Forest Drive across from MUSC Medical Center. The development will be called the Oaks at St. Anna’s Park.
