Competing Family Gives Money To SAMS Wrestling Program

Angel and Jill Lara, whose sons wrestle for Dutch Fork Middle School, gave $1,000 to St. Andrews Middle School.

This week's wresting match between Dutch Fork and St. Andrews middle schools provided the start of a heart-warming holiday tale.

Jill Lara, whose sons wrestle on the Dutch Fork team, was touched by the determination of the St. Andrews wrestlers, who do not have wrestling shoes and head gear to compete in.

After talking to her husband Angel about it, the couple decided to give each other a unique Christmas gift: wrestling equipment for a competing school.

"We decided our Christmas gifts to each other this year would be to outfit your school’s wrestling team with wrestling shoes and head gear,” Jill Lara told St. Andrews Middle School.

Jill Lara arrived at St. Andrews on Thursday morning, and presented a check for $1,000.00 to the team's coach, Ron Lanham.
