County Council Passes New District Lines

New council district lines meet population changes in 2010 census.

Richland County Council electoral districts will remain mostly the same for St. Andrews.

At a special-called meeting Tuesday, the council passed the third reading of an ordinance that modifies electoral districts based on population changes in the 2010 Census. Each of the 11 districts has between 34,000 and 35,000 people.

A map of the new district lines is on Richland County's website. St. Andrews is part of districts two, four and five.

Councilwoman Joyce Dickerson represents district two. Population changes didn't alter her electoral district much, she said. Her line was moved slightly up into the Riverwalk neighborhood in Irmo.

Dickerson's seat is up for election in 2012.
