Funeral for Woman Shot in Irmo Set for Wednesday
Joann Hill, 25, was shot during a domestic dispute in Irmo.

The funeral service for Joann Hill, the 25-year-old who was shot to death by her ex-boyfriend last week, is scheduled for Wednesday at FB Pratt and Son Funeral Home in Newberry. It is open to the public.Â
Hill went to school and worked at Kraft Foods in Newberry, according to her obituary in The Newberry Observer.Â
A domestic dispute broke out between Hill and her ex-boyfriend around 9 p.m. on July 20 on Sid Eargle Road in Irmo, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

When deputies arrived, they found Hill on the side of the road with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a report from WIS-TV. Deputies heard more shots fired, and found Hill's ex-boyfriend DeShawn Washington in front of his house on Sid Eargle Road. Washington fired shots at deputies, but missed. He then shot and killed himself.Â
The couple's 2-year-old daughter was also shot. She was taken to the hospital and is recovering, according to the report from WIS-TV.

The families have two different stories about the couple's relationship.Â
Washington's family told ABC Columbia that the couple never had any other incidents of domestic violence. But Hill's family told WIS-TV that Hill had spent time at a domestic violence shelter.Â
