Gov. Haley Grades Lawmakers

Out of the three Democrats and two Republicans who represent the St. Andrews area, only one scored an 'A.'

Republican Gov. Nikki Haley released grades on Monday night on this year's legislative session, focusing on several of her key priorties.

The legislative report card gives lawmakers points for voting for bills on her agenda and subtracts points for voting against one of those bills.

Overall, most Republicans scored well, and most Democrats scored poorly. Of the three Democrats and two Republicans who represent the St. Andrews area, only one scored an "A."

Haley announced in March that she would grade legislators according to how they voted on legislation that she says is important in helping her accomplish what voters in South Carolina elected her to accomplish.

Haley graded legislators on items on her agenda, including a measure requiring more on-the-record voting, the creation of a Department of Administration to oversee state administrative functions, the upholding of her budget vetoes and the merging of the Department of Probation, Pardon and Parole into the Department of Corrections.
