Heat Advisory in Effect Saturday

The National Weather Service in Columbia issued a heat advisory for Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

The high will reach 100 degrees with a heat index between 105 and 111 degress. 

The high temperatures and humidity will create conditions likely to cause heat ilnesses, according to the National Weather Service. Staying outdoors for long periods of time could cause heat exhaustion or heat stroke. 

The weather service recommends staying indoors and drinking plenty of water. 

Sunday will be a little cooler. The high is 95 degrees.
