Hotel Switches Brands and Colors

The old Radisson Hotel on Bush River Road is now a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.

Switching to the DoubleTree by Hilton brand gave the hotel at 2100 Bush River Road a new look and some new customers.

General Manager Matt Ricker said a designer chose new colors for the outside of the hotel as part of the switch. The brick was painted tan and the stucco was painted "eucalyptus green," a dramatic change from the previous earth tone color, Ricker said.

Not many changes were made to the inside of the hotel because it was already in good shape, thanks to a $14 million renovation in 2004 when the company Ricker works for first bought the hotel.

The hotel received great feedback from its customers when it operated under the Radisson brand, Ricker said, but started looking for a new brand last year.

"Radisson as a brand just kind of faded in the Southeast," Ricker said. "We weren't really happy with the brand. We kind of looked around to see what brand would fit best and that was Hilton."

Hilton operates 10 brands. Ricker said DoubleTree by Hilton was the best choice for his hotel.

"We're excited about the brand loyalty of Hilton," Ricker said. "We've had an influx of Hilton customers - people who have stayed at other Hilton brands."
