  1. The historic Hotel Trundle in Columbia received national recognition after being ranked the fifth best hotel in the country from USA TODAY. Hotel Trundle is a boutique hotel on Taylor Street that honors the past by mixing old and new designs. Throughout the hotel, visitors can see the original architecture of the three stores it once was. (WLTX.com)
  2. A Columbia man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for his role in a drive-by shooting incident that injured a mother and her daughter in West Columbia. Isaiah Deshaun Butler, 23, has been convicted of attempted murder and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Officials say Butler opened fire into a crowd of people in the parking lot of the Riverbend apartment complex on August 30. (WIS10)
  3. Alex Murdaugh was booked on Saturday into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Murdaugh was arrested on Thursday in Florida on two felony counts of obtaining property under false pretense. The charges stem from SLED's investigation into misappropriated settlement funds in the death of Murdaugh's long-time housekeeper Gloria Satterfield. (WBTV)
  4. A group in Columbia marched Saturday to advocate for the 40 million people enslaved across the globe. According to the victims' service agency Safe Horizon, around 25 million people in the U.S. are enslaved in human trafficking. (WLTX.com)
  5. The Sweet Shop SC opened this weekend at 141 S. Shandon St. (the corner of Shandon St. and Rosewood Dr.). Owner Kia Brown has been working out of her home as a baker since 2018, and her success led to the new location. (ColaDaily.com)
