Insurance Provider Honors Richland One
The district was recognized for making the claims process run smoothly.

The S.C. School Boards Insurance Trust recognized Richland One for its effective process and use of property and casualty claims.
The district received the Property and Casualty Ownership and Involvement Award from the SCSBIT, the largest insurance provider to school districts in the state.
“This award recognizes districts that go above and beyond just reporting a claim,” said SCSBIT Director Dr. Frank Vail. “They provide critical information related to the claim, written statements from supervising teachers and witnesses, pictures and video, access to employees involved, and suggestions and cooperation on resolving claims.”

Vail said the additional efforts can often make a tedious process run “smoother, quicker and more cost effective.” By anticipating and gathering information for claims, he said the district is able to use the information to help prevent future claims.
The SCSBIT is a service provided by the S.C. School Boards Association (SCSBA), a non-profit, statewide professional organization for the state’s 83 locally elected/appointed district school boards. The organization also offers workers’ compensation and property and casualty programs for school districts.
