Kindergarten Enrollment Starts Soon For Howard County Schools

Parents or guardians of children who will be five as of Sept. 1, 2020, can start enrolling their students for the 2020-2021 school year.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Even though the start of school is months away, it's time to enroll perspective kindergartners. Parents or guardians of children who will be five as of Sept. 1, 2020, must enroll their students for the 2020-2021 school year and can start the process online, then finish registering in person at the school.

Online registration is not required and parents may choose to complete the full registration in person. Parents may visit a child’s school to complete or initiate enrollment during normal school hours March 9-13 or by appointment following the open registration week.

Parents or guardians enrolling students in kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year should follow these steps:

  1. Review details regarding the enrollment process
  2. Use the online school locator to determine what school the child will attend
  3. Gather required documentation
  4. Begin the registration process online
  5. Parents or legal guardians must visit their child’s school and provide proof of parental relationship and any other documents not provided during the online registration process. You must contact a child’s school for an appointment to complete registration.
