KISS 103.1 Hosts Back-to-School Event

Find entertainment, free school supplies and health care, and a career fair at the state fair grounds Friday.

Looking for school supplies, a job or free health care? 

Find it all at Tom Joyner's 4th annual Back to School event. Join the host of the Tom Joyner Show on KISS 103.1 starting at 6 a.m. as he broadcasts live from the event in the Cantey building. 

The first 5,000 students win free school supplies. The event is free for students of all ages - elementary through college. Students can also enter to win prizes such as an Apple iPad or National Guard tent.

Richland One will provide a shuttle between the back-to-school event and the S.C. Mission 2011: Midlands event, where uninsured residents can receive free medical, dental and eye care. Visit the Richland One or Palmetto Health booths for a shuttle schedule and pass.

The district will also be handing out copies of its publication "Richland One Connects" and other information at its booth.

The event will feature entertainment from several school dance groups, choirs and bands, including the Columbia High School Band of Gold and the Benedict College Drum Line. 

National recording artist Bobby V will also perform. 

The event also gives parents who are looking for a job the opportunity to meet representatives from companies around the Midlands.

Some of the sponsors for the event include Palmetto Health, Dutch Square Center and Richland One.
