Local Entrepreneurs to Launch Columbia Art Studio…with a ‘Twist’

Kathy and Ron Lane to Open South Carolina's First Painting with a Twist, Unique Art & Social Studio

Aspiring to bring a new creative outlet to South Carolina, Painting with a Twist is now open in Columbia. A place where friends come together to paint, drink a beverage of their choice and discover their inner artist, Painting with a Twist of Columbia is located at 275 Harbison Boulevard, Suite R.

Painting with a Twist of Columbia is part of a fast-growing national franchise that provides guests a unique ‘getaway’ through art. A Painting with a Twist class includes grabbing friends or flying solo and making friends along the way, painting and the option to BYOB. Led by local art instructors, guests paint on bare 16” by 20” canvases using paint and brushes provided by the studio. At Painting with a Twist, guests are able to disconnect from everyday life, enjoy good music, wine or beer, and create unique, personal masterpieces they can hang in their homes or gift to others. The artwork ranges from landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes, to creative renderings of animals, iconic buildings and florals. Friends gather for an evening of laughs, creativity and camaraderie as they create one-of-a-kind pieces of art to take home and, often, discover a newfound talent.

The Columbia studio is owned and operated by local entrepreneurial couple of 31years, Kathy and Ron Lane. While visiting friends in Florida, their daughter was first introduced to Painting with a Twist. Upon her return home, she could not stop gushing about the experience to her dad, who immediately researched the business opportunity and presented the idea of opening a studio to his wife. Falling in love with the concept and Painting with a Twist’s philanthropic commitment to the communities it serves, Kathy and Ron decided to open a studio.

"We believe Ron’s 38 years of experience as a regional engineer with Pepsi alongside my sincere passion of working with people will be a successful combination for our new Painting with a Twist studio," said Kathy. "We’re excited to introduce Painting with a Twist to the state for the first time and look forward to providing a unique creative outlet to our surrounding communities."

Although the concept of paint-and-sip has been around for years, Painting with a Twist founders Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney have perfected it into a successful business formula. As the art and wine trend continues to pick up steam, Painting with a Twist, the pioneer in the paint-and-sip segment, has both guests and franchisees alike lining up at the doors.
