Patch Editors Volunteer at Irmo Elementary School

As part of our Give 5 program, we're taking part of our day to read to students.

Part of Patch's mission is to improve the communities we're in by volunteering. That's why each year Patch employees participate in the Give Five program by volunteering five days a year.

Today I'll be reading to students at Irmo Elementary School. Teachers have also asked us to share with the students what it's like to be a journalist and writer.

Irmo-Seven Oaks Patch Editor Shireese Bell, Lexington Patch Editor Hal Millard and Spring Valley Patch Editor Reilly Moore will also be volunteering at the school.

Look for photos later today.

We're always looking for places to volunteer in the future. We usually volunteer in a group and rotate between our four Patches. If you know an organization in Irmo, St. Andrews, Lexington or Spring Valley that could use volunteers, tell us in the comments or send me an e-mail at tiffany.barkley@patch.com.
