Update: Coroner Identifies Pedestrian Hit, Killed on Broad River Road

The woman was crossing the street near Dutch Square Center when she was hit, troopers said.

A 22-year-old woman from Hawaii died at the hospital after being hit by a car on Broad River Road Saturday night, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. 

Alissa R. Bennett, had recently graduated from college at Washington State University and was traveling and camping around the country with her boyfriend, said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.

Bennett was crossing the street illegally near Dutch Square Center around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, troopers said. She was hit by a man driving a 2010 Nissan.
