P.O.V. Film Series Screens a Halloween Scream
Double- Feature October 24th, 2013
The witching hour is upon us...
Join
us Thursday October 24th as we celebrate those ghoulish things that go
bump in the night. The Point of View Film Series is proud to present
two outstanding horror classics -- Herk Harvey's "Carnival of Souls"
(1962) and F.W. Murnau's "Nosferatu" (1922). Don't miss
this special FREE double-feature screening.
Carnival of Souls,
Herk Harvey's macabre masterpiece, gained a cult following through late
night television and has been bootlegged for years. Made by industrial
filmmakers on a modest budget, Souls
was intended to have the "look of a Bergman" and "feel of a Cocteau,"
and succeeds with its strikingly used locations and spooky organ score.
-- Criterion Collection.
Nosferatu, the earliest surviving screen adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula novel has had a long and
dangerous life of its own. Almost destroyed by Stoker's widow because of copyright infringement,
this film has outlasted many others of the silent era.
This double feature is the eighth screening in the P.O.V. Series which meets monthly in the Skyline Room of Tapp's Art Center to
discuss films of varying eras, styles, and genres from around the
world.
