Remembering 9/11: Community Events
Several memorial events will be held in the Columbia area for the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Friday
Tune into the Richland Radio show from 5-6 p.m. Friday for a special 9/11 tribute show. Listen on WGCV 620 AM or online at wgcv.net.

Liberty Taproom and Grill in the Vista is holding a fundraiser for the First Responders Remembrance Memorial in Columbia from 12-4 p.m. The event, called Liberty Remembers 9-11: A Decade Later, will include live entertainment, face painting and a silent auction.Â
A memorial service for the heroes and victims of 9/11 will be held at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater with music starting at 7:30 a.m. The service will be from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Gregg Pinner.Â

Sunday
The unveiling and dedication of the First Responders Remembrance Memorial will take place at 3 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The event will include speeches from the family member of a 9/11 First Responder, Mayor Steve Benjamin and Gov. Nikki Haley. It will also feature patriotic and religious music performances.Â
Come to Finlay Park at 7 p.m. for the South Carolina Philharmonic 9/11 10th Anniversary Concert. The event will also feature music from the Benedict College Gospel Choir and a fly-over presentation of military aircraft. Â
