Richland County is helping residents get rid of unwanted electronics and paper with a  Saturday. Residents can drop off electronics in the parking lot of Dutch Square Mall between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The county also set up a paper shredding service.  The South Carolina legislature passed a <a href="http://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t48c060.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">law</a> in May 2010 that made it illegal for residents to dispose of their electronics in landfills. The law also requires manufacturers of electronics to offer recycling events.
