Richland County Wins Four Awards

The National Association of Counties recognized Richland County programs.

The National Association of Counties recognized Richland County for its work with youth, streams and rivers, recycling and radio.

Richland County won four 2011 National Associaton of Counties awards — more than any other S.C. county. 

The programs recognized were:

  • the Richland County Sheriff's Department and Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Youth Arbitration program which helps keep non-violent youth offenders out of the criminal justice system
  • the Stormwater Management Team for their monitoring of the county's streams and rivers
  • the county's recycling efforts, including the Annual Richland County America Recycles Day
  • Richland Radio, a news-talk show hosted and produced by Richland County staff on WGCV 620 AM from 5-6 p.m. on Fridays
