Richland One Welcomes Students Back to School
Some kindergarteners at Pine Grove Elementary went to school for the first time.
Five-year-old Tre Shaun Mathis went to school for the first time Monday morning.Â
He stood in Ms. Merritt's kindergarten classroom at Pine Grove Elementary with his mom, his aunt and his uncle, who were all there to wish him a good first day of school.
"Now you have a good first day of school, OK?" said Tre Shaun's mom, Renee Mathis, as she hugged him goodbye.

"I'm actually excited," Renee Mathis said. "I think I was more excited than him. He has a wee bit of anxiety."
For Tre Shaun, it was his first day in a classroom setting, but for other students, walking into the school was more familiar.Â
Richland One welcomed back more than 23,000 students Monday at its 50 schools across the county.Â
