Here are the top stories in Columbia today:
- The 32nd year of the SC Pride Parade & Festival is just around the corner on Oct. 22-23. South Carolina Pride Movement is a Columbia-based nonprofit whose mission is to support LGBTQ+ lives, educate the public, celebrate diversity, and advocate for inclusion and equality. All events will be held in downtown Columbia on Main Street with the Official Kick-Off Party taking place today at 10 p.m.
- The South Carolina Trucking Association says supply chain disruptions are being further exacerbated by an ongoing shortage of truck drivers throughout South Carolina. Because trucks are involved in nearly every link in the supply chain system, these issues create bottlenecks and delays, causing consumers to ultimately pay more for food and other goods. Additionally, some drivers are experiencing frustratingly long delays while picking up cargo at ports. (WIS10)
- Columbia city employees are nearing an 80% COVID vaccination rate as employee mandate looms. Most employees are expected to receive the vaccine by Nov. 1. (The State)
