The Riverbanks giraffe herd has yet another addition to the family.  A 134-pound calf was born on July 27 bringing the herd to a total of eight. .  Zookeepers named the most recent calf Calvin. He is the second-born to giraffe parents Charlie and Krissy.  Six giraffes have been born at Riverbanks since February 2009.  "In recent years, the Zoo's mammal department has put a lot of effort into increasing the number of giraffes that reside at Riverbanks," said John Davis, curator of mammals.  "Now that we have a full house, we will refocus our attention on maintaining that large number here at the Zoo." Visitors can see Calvin and Lennard daily in the African Savanna exhibit.
