Sheriff's Department Makes More Arrests in Dog-fighting Case
Deputies broke up the dog-fighting ring in early September and are still investigating.
Richland County Sheriff's deputies made two more arrests in connection with a dog-fighting ring in northern Richland County involving 24 pit bulls.
James Earl Green, 60, was charged with three counts of felony animal cruelty and four counts of dog fighting. He turned himself in to deputies at the sheriff's department Tuesday morning.
Jason Lundees Washington, 31, was arrested and charged with two counts of dog fighting after he was released on bond from federal custody for drug-related charges, according to the sheriff's department.

Green and Washington were booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and are out on bond.

The sheriff's department set up a foundation to help with the medical expenses and boarding costs for the 24 pitt bulls who are still in their custody. Anyone who wants to make a donation should make the check payable to the Richland County Sheriff's Foundation and send it to P.O. Box 1182, Columbia, SC 29202.
Pawmetto Lifeline is also looking for people interested in until they are ready to be adopted.
The sheriff's department's investigation into the dog-fighting ring continues. Deputies are looking for Tony Shuler, 40, and someone who goes by the name of Mike Keru or Kayru. Anyone with information regarding the suspects should call Crimestoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
