Sheriff's Department Wins Awards in State Police Olympics

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department Pistol and Police Olympic Teams brought home trophies and medals after competing against law enforcement agencies from across the state last week. 

The Pistol Team competed in Conway against other state, local and federal law enforcement teams. They won the top team competition, three gun competition, top classified shooter and unclassified shooter. They were also finalists in the lumberjack competition. 

Deputies from the Olympic Team, which competed in Myrtle Beach, won king and queen of the CrossFit challenge. The team also won the top two Police Olympic Teams overall. 

Both the Pistol and the Police Olympic Teams put in long hours of training for these events, said Sheriff Leon Lott. 

"Competing in these events builds morale, improves the wellness of our personnel and shows off the talents of the deputies that patrol our communities every day," Lott said in a statement.
