St. Andrews Park Grand Opening Set for Friday

St. Andrews residents have a new place to relax and cool off this summer.

The recreation center at is set to open Friday. The pool will open Saturday.

The facility also includes a gym, meeting rooms, a kitchen, a crafts room and a weight room. New outdoor restrooms were built for athletic events at the park's tennis courts and athletic fields.

The two-acre park was originally built in the late 1970s and only included a gym, tennis courts and the athletic fields. 

The new facility, which has been under construction since March of 2011, was built as part of $50 million in recreation bonds to update Richland County parks and to build news ones.

The Richland County Recreation Commission will hold a grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday. The park officially opens to the public at 2 p.m. The pool will open Saturday. 

The park's new hours are: 

2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday - Friday 

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday

1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday

The pool's hours are:

1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday

12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday

1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday
