Here are the top stories in Columbia today:

  1. The South Carolina State Fair is kicking off its 152nd annual event in Columbia today while taking extra precautions to minimize the risk of COVID-19. Last year's fair was a drive-thru due to the pandemic. This year will hold in-person festivities while encouraging attendees to socially distance and use touchless payment methods. (WLTX.com)
  2. Two people were found dead at a local senior living community yesterday afternoon. The Richland County Sheriff's Department was called to the Harmony Collection of Columbia around 2:30 p.m. for two injured people found inside of an apartment at 2300 Clemson Road. Both had gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene according to deputies.(WIS10)
  3. South Carolina drivers have the opportunity to get a new license plate that helps raise money for cancer research. (Abccolumbia.com)
  4. The City of Columbia Payment and Customer Care Center is now open. The new location is located at 3000 Harden Street and allows residents to pay bills for water and sewer, solid waste for commercial customers, and parking tickets. (WACH.com)
  5. The Flying Biscuit Cafe is coming to the new Five Points development in the 900 block of Harden Street by mid-December. (columbiabusinessreport.com)
