Two Arrested for Carrying Gun at Columbia High School

Deputies arrested a 17-year-old man and a juvenile for carrying a weapon on school property at  Friday. 

Students notified a school resource officer and administrator that Lamar Watkins had a gun, according to the sheriff's department. 

When the officer went to take Watkins out of class, Watkins passed the gun to the juvenile who hid it in his waistband, deputies said. Officers said they recovered the gun from the juvenile's waistband. 

Watkins and the juvenile were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
