Two Schools in St. Andrews Win Palmetto Silver Award

The schools were recognized for their improvement on PASS test scores and school report card ratings.

St. Andrews Middle School and H.B. Rhame Elementary won the Palmetto Silver Award, one of the state's highest educational awards for academic achievement and student improvement.

The two schools were among 37 schools in Richland One that won either the Palmetto Gold or Silver Award, according to a list released by the State Department of Education Monday.

The awards recognize schools with high levels of absolute performance, high rates of growth and substantial progress in closing achievement gaps between groups of students. Award winners are selected based on school report card ratings and students' scores on the PASS (Palmetto Assessment of State Standards) test in 2011.
