Update: Two Sheriff's Department Members Win Medals at World Police and Fire Games
The two officers won six medals combined.
Two members of the Richland County Sheriff's Department are bringing home silver and gold from the world's second-largest multi-sport event: the 2011 World Police and Fire Games.Â
Investigator Amy Hartland won four silver medals in swimming competitions, including the 50-meter butterfly and the 100-meter freestyle.
She was only a tenth of a second away from winning the gold medal in the 50-meter freestyle.

Deputy Cornell Young won a gold medal in the 110 hurdles on Tuesday and a silver medal in the 400 hurdles on Monday.
More than 18,000 full-time police officer and firefighters from around the world are competing in the 2011 World Police and Fire Games in New York.

This year's themes are remembrance and gratitude in honor of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001.Â
The first World Games were in 1985 in California. The event, which is held biennially, has been hosted by countries around the world.Â
The games started Aug. 26 and will end Sept. 5.Â
