(postandcourier.com) — Horry County leaders meeting in Conway are weighing new zoning rules to control where large, resource-hungry data centers can be built and how close they can sit to neighborhoods. Conway residents, including those in Wild Wing, are pressing officials to keep heavy industrial uses away from homes, citing existing problems with noise, dust, traffic, and environmental concerns.

• 33 dogs saved at Conway-area home in animal cruelty, dogfighting investigation, SLED reports (myfox8.com) — Authorities say 33 dogs were rescued from a Conway-area home where investigators allege they were kept in poor conditions and used for dogfighting. A Conway man now faces dozens of animal cruelty and related charges, and another person is accused of helping promote the kennel operation. Officials say the dogs have been seized and evaluated by a veterinarian while the investigation continues.

• Man sentenced to 14 years in prison for burglary, carjackings in Myrtle Beach area (wbtw.com) — A man has been sentenced in Conway to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to a violent burglary and two carjackings tied to a December crime spree in the Myrtle Beach area. Prosecutors say the incidents included assaults at Lakewood Camping Resort and a nearby business before officers arrested him near Highways 544 and 17. The case was handled by the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
