📰 News we're reading

• A threatened shorebird nests on Folly Beach. New signs could protect them. (postandcourier.com) — New signs are now up at Folly Beach County Park to protect state‑threatened Wilson’s Plovers, so beachgoers will see more roped‑off nesting areas through August. Officials urge visitors to stay near the waterline, leash dogs, and respect posted boundaries to keep fragile eggs and chicks safe. Staff say most people already comply, helping preserve a favorite local birdwatching spot.

• From Shore to Sea (follycurrent.com) — Turtle season has begun on Folly Beach, bringing nightly “lights out” rules and daily patrols by Turtle Watch volunteers along all 7.1 miles of shoreline. Residents and visitors are asked to dim beachfront lights, clear the sand at night, and report any nesting turtles, hatchlings, or injured animals to Folly Beach Public Safety so local volunteers can respond quickly.

• - Folly Current (follycurrent.com) — Dog owners on Folly Beach face peak-season rules again, with dogs banned from the sand between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. through September 30 but welcome at other hours on a leash. This guide walks you through where pups can still play, key no-go zones like the pier and Lighthouse Inlet, and a long list of dog-friendly local restaurants and parks.
