• Animal cruelty case moves toward trial as advocates demand change (abcnews4.com) — Goose Creek residents packed a local courtroom as a long-running animal cruelty case involving dozens of seized dogs moved one step closer to a jury trial set for late October or early November. Advocates in red shirts are using the Goose Creek case to push for tougher statewide animal protection laws, including stronger penalties, ownership bans for repeat offenders, and a public registry of those convicted.
   

• 2 arrested after young children found inside abandoned North Charleston home (live5news.com) — One of the two people arrested after children were found in dangerous conditions inside an abandoned North Charleston home is a Goose Creek resident, tying this disturbing case back to our community. Police say the house had no utilities, was infested with roaches, and contained drug paraphernalia, prompting EMS to take the children to a hospital and into emergency protective custody.
